Scor-Pal/Fancy Pants Week

Shown originally on the Scor-Pal blog
Happy Christmas Eve!
I have a quick little gift idea for you today for our meet up with Fancy Pants!
This is a very easy little box of mini notecards, complete with envelopes ready to give to a loved one. I have made a few of these for gifts this year and even though it is close to Christmas there is still time if you an extra gift to give.

Project Recipe:
Paper - Country Boutique by Fancy Pants
Scoring Tools - Scor-Pal and Scor-Envi
Adhesive - Scor-Tape

For the base of the box start with a piece of patterned paper measuring 5 3/4" square. Score at 1" on all 4 sides. Snip up one side of the mini square formed at the corners to make the flap to form the base.

Add Scor-Tape to the corners and form the base using the scoring tool on the inside corners to make crisp corners.

For the lid use a piece of paper 6" square and score at 1". Then using a border punch create a decorative edge before forming the lid. Snip the corners the same as the base and use Scor-Tape to adhere the flaps to make the corners.

Here you can see how the lid fits.

Using a strip of paper measuring 12" by 1 3/4" score at 2 3/4". 4", 8" and 9 1/4" along the long side. Use Scor-Tape on the overlap to form a belly band to secure the box closed.

Add a sentiment to the belly band to decorate.

Here is the box from the side.

Using the measurements on the Scor-Envi create envelopes for 3" cards. I actually made the cards 3 1/4" square as the envelope allowed a little more space.

Decorate the note cards as desired.

This makes a perfect quick gift, one that will surely be treasured.

I would like to enter it in the following challenges:
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything Goes (6 entries only)
Do You Stack Up - Antyhing Goes (3 entries only)

Crafts 4 Eternity - Anything Goes (3 entries only)
Anything But a Card - Anything But a Card

So there you are, a very quick gift to make. This will be my last blog post until after Christmas (not until Sunday actually) so I want to wish you all a wonderful, safe and very Merry Christmas, enjoy time with your loved ones and have fun!
Crafty Hugs!

These are on the tree in my formal living room that usually just has poinsettias and frosted fruit ornaments and really is quite a "formal tree" but I had so much fun making these little cuties and I'm not sure if I won't be making some more soon! How cute would a tree full of this style tag be?
I hope you like them too and maybe I've inspired you to do even more Christmas crafting?

Guest Designer at Twisted Tuesday!

I won a challenge a few weeks ago at Twisted Tuesday and they asked me if I'd like to guest for them and today is the day!
Their challenges are fun as they always have a twist and this week is no exception.
The challenge is Tags and Smiles!
THE CHALLENGE ~ Your creation needs to be a tag or have a tag on it.
THE TWIST ~ What makes you smile. Show us on your creation. It can be a favorite stamp you have and cherish (use it on your tag), your collection of embellishments, stamps, etc, something crafty you received as a gift, etc....just don't forget to tell us and show us what it is that makes you smile when crafting!
These little Christmas Puddings sure do make me smile and there is something quintessentially English about a Christmas pud and thinking of home always makes me smile so that means the image does double duty!

Challenges:
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas - Anything Christmas
Freshly Brewed - Christmas (5 entries only)
Christmas at Sweet Stampin - Anything Christmas (2 entries only)

Cupcake Treat Box and Tutorial

For my project for the fabulous meeting of Scor-Pal and Core'dinations I decided to go with a Cupcake/Treat holder.
There are other tutorials around but I decided to go from scratch and see how it turned out :)

Project Recipe:
Core'dinations Card Stock - Core Amour Sable and Onyx and Signature Series (matches Graphic 45)
Tools - Scor-Pal and Scor-Mat
Adhesive - Scor-Tape
Ribbon - Really Reasonable Ribbon
Brad - Heidi Grace

For the base of the box I started with an 11" square of card stock. Scored at 3", made a 1/4 turn, scored again at 3" and repeated until all 4 sides were scored.
I burnished all scored lines and then, as shown in the photo, I cut up one scored line to the intersection on all four sides to make the flaps that become the corners on the box.

I then turned the base over and added Scor-Tape to all 4 flaps.

Before forming the box I added the decorative paper from the Core Amour Sable and Onyx pad that I had sanded down and cut to fit the sides of the box. Doing this before forming the box is a lot easier than trying to add it once the box is adhered.

I removed the protective top to the Scor-Tape and formed the box, using my bone folder on the inside to create crisp corners.

The lid is made the same way but this time the card stock is 7 1/4" square and you score at 1" on all four sides.

Form the lid and again use the bone folder on the inside to create crisp, even corners.

To make the insert to hold the cupcakes/treat you simply cut 2 pieces of card stock to measure 5" by 3". Cut a 1 1/2" deep slit at the 2 1/2" mark on the 5" side on each piece so they will interlock to form the 4 partitions.
.

To create the base part of the cupcake to top the box you need to make rosettes of different sizes. All are scored at 1/4" along the long side and all strips are 12" long. The widths of each strip are 3/4", 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2"

To create the top part of the cupcake make more rosettes, this time with strip widths of 1 1/4", 1", 3/4" and 1/2". Top the smallest one with a decorative brad/embellishment.

Form the cupcake from the rosettes with the brown going from smallest to largest and the white (frosting) from largest to smallest as shown in the photo, I recommended hot glue for all parts of the rosettes.

Attach the base to the frosting to make the cupcake.

Decorate the box further if you wish, I simply added a pleated sheer ribbon to the sides of the lid. I finished the set with a simple gatefold card in coordinating papers.

Here is a close up of the completed cupcake topper. Using hot glue to adhere it to the lid makes it secure enough to hold and use to help take off the lid.

And finally a few choice cupcakes makes for the perfect gift.

I am entering it into the following challenges:
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes (2 entries only)
Crafts and Me - No Blue
Creative Moments - Anything But a Card
Belli - Something Sweet
Cupcake Crafts - Cupcakes
Anything But a Card - Anything But a Card
