Oh my are you in for a treat today!
It is the first blog hop of the year at Magnolia-Licious and the theme is "Hello Spring" and the team have a glorious selection of Spring and Easter projects for you to enjoy.
You should have come to me from one of my favorite bloggers Patti Jo and she is bound to have given you a treat for your eyes.
If you came upon me by accident then be sure to go back to Magnolia-Licious so that don't miss a single delicious spot on the hop.
For my project I have made a woven Easter Basket and I have a quick tutorial for you so that you can make one for yourself!
Project Recipe:
Images - Tilda Holding Egg Basket, Tilda with Straw Hat, Tilda with Daffodil Basket, and Tilda with Floppy Bunny
Medium - Copic Markers
Paper - Citronella by K and Co
Border Punch - Doily Lace by Martha Stewart
Fence Punch - Martha Stewart Spooky Fence (trimmed off the bats)
Grass Die - Cheery Lynn Designs
3D Stickers - Walmart
Lace - Hobby Lobby
Ribbon - Cherries by Really Reasonable Ribbon
Spotted Brads - The Paper Studio
Start with a sheet of double sided patterned cardstock weight paper 12" 12". Score at 4" and 8", rotate and score again at 4" and 8"
Cut out the 4 corner squares as shown in the photo and retain.
On the 4" sides of the basket cut at 1", 2" and 3" down to the score line as shown in the photo.
Using the retained squares cut each into 1" by 4" strips.
Using the strips, turned to opposite side pattern, weave over and under across the vertical strips created on the basket as shown. Alternate the over and under on each strip to create strength and a checkerboard pattern. Secure on the underside with Scor-Tape at the end of each strip after leaving an overhang end as in the photo. Do not trim ends as you will need them to secure the sides in place.
Add Scor-Tape to the ends that overhang.
Attach the strips on the inner side and use the Scor-Tool to create a crisp fold in the corners.
Make a handle from a 12" strip of coordinating paper (I punched both sides for a nice pattern) and attach with a brad or your choice of embellishment.
Decorate the basket as desired.
Tilda with Daffodil Basket
Tilda with Straw Hat
Tilda Holding Egg Basket
Tilda with Floppy Bunny
Now you have seen mine and learned how to make one it is time to HOP HOP HOP on over to Jane to see the magical creation they have for you.
If you have time please leave a little love for my teammates I know they would appreciate it :)
And if you do try your hand at my basket I would love you to leave a comment or send me an email so I can come and admire yours!
Katie
