It's time for another issue of the online magazine Papers and Pixels and I had the honor of having another of my pieces used in an article. This time it is for a wonderful editorial about the Scor-Pal and so it was time to get scoring and creasing again!
I used the super tutorial to help make a Criss Cross Card that I turned into a Halloween invitation.
I also made an envelope to match.
I highly recommend this magazine, it has tons of freebies linked with each edition, fabulous tutorials and just an all round great read!
I added a grass die cut border on to the bottom first and then added the punched graveyard scene, I like the way the grass just pokes up behind like it's overgrown and just ready for a little scary fun!
I added mini eyelets to the sentiment and used twine to create a sign hanging from the spooky tree, I really love how all the elements work together in this one.
I printed the text in "Burton's Nightmare" font and added a couple of the mini Magnolia figures, gosh those things are cute if a little fiddly to color :)
I completed the project with a coordinating envelope and added both of the border punches for a neat finish.

There is a whole world of online magazines and this month there is a feature at Papers and Pixels about Digital Delights and Wendy asked me if I'd like to contribute a project for the article.

I've taken a look and the article begins on page 87 and my projects start on page 89.
I was a little worried that I could do something good enough to publish but after a little soul searching I said yes and came up with an idea to create a party using the fun kids, papers and sentiments from the Jungle Buddies collection.
I decided to use the pre-colored versions as if I was doing a bundle for a party I'd never have the time to color them all individually and when doing tiny versions the colored ones are just perfect!
I've given instructions with each item so that if you'd like to give my ideas a go you can :)
Size 5” by 4 ½”
Print the digital paper at 4 ¾” by 4 ¼” and mat on white cardstock and then yellow cardstock.
Add printed Safari child image, printed sentiment and printed details panel (I made mine up)
Pen stitch around the edges.
Cupcake Toppers:
Print a sheet of digital paper at 11” by 8 ½” in the landscape view.
Cut into strips lengthwise to makes 6 strips 11” by 1 ¼”.
Using a scalloped border punch, punch the entire length of one side of each strip.
Using a scoring tool score down in the vertical line between each scallop that the punch makes (approx. ½” apart)
Fan fold the length of paper in a “hill and valley” style to make a rippled strip of paper.
Attach the ends together to form a ring using strong liquid glue.
When the glue I set press down the center of the ring to form a rosette. Keep hold tightly so it doesn’t spring back.
Turn the piece over to the white side and put some liquid glue into the center where the edges meet to adhere. Hold tight at all times.
Add a punched cardstock circle with more glue over the center back.
Squeeze to get the glue to grip.
Carefully turn over, still holding tight and repeat the glue in the center (down into the small hole that is formed) and add another cardstock circles on top.
The glue should have started to set but use a weight (or someone else’s hand) to hold it down until it is set.
Print out the Safari child at 2” tall and cut out using small scissors.
When the rosette is dry add the child to center of the rosette.
Add a mini popsicle stick to the back and a punched bow topped with a tiny monkey punched with a circle punch from leftover pieces of digital paper.
Water Bottle Wrappers:
Print a sheet of digital paper at 11” by 8 ½” in the landscape view.
Cut in half lengthwise to form two pieces 11” by 4 ¼”.
Attach to the bottle with glue or tape. Obviously the size of bottle will make a difference to the size of the wrapper.
Print Safari child, mat and attach to the bottle.
Punch a circle from digital paper (spare from the other projects) to cover the bottle cap.
Print the Wild Thing sentiment, mat in yellow cardstock, punch a hole in the corner and attach to the neck of the bottle by a piece of gingham ribbon.
Napkin Rings:
Printed digital paper on a sheet of 11” by 8 ½” in the landscape view.
Cut in strips 1 ½” wide by 8 ½” long.
Attach the ends into a ring overlapping by about 2 inches and secure with strong liquid glue. I use Beacons 3 in 1.
Print Safari child image at 2” high, trim and mat on yellow cardstock, attach to the ring with a foam pop dot.
I hope you like my little party set, it is so easy when using pre-colored images and digital papers and can be adapted to many themes. In fact my daughter, who will be 13 in January, is already dropping hints that she thinks a similar idea would be great for her next party! LOL
And I want to shout out a huge "THANK YOU!!" to my husband who ran all around town to get me yellow and green napkins and even got the bakery at Kroger to whip up a batch of green frosted cupcakes without sprinkles! LOL
I was nice to make something a little different and it's given me a lot of ideas for upcoming events.
Of course I found a few challenges for this project to go along with :)
