More Than One Score at Scor-Pal #64 Harvest/Fall/Halloween

It's time for a new challenge at More Than One Score at Scor-Pal and this time we want to see your Fall/Harvest or Halloween projects.

I decided to go with Halloween and make a Haunted House!

It started with 2 wooden house shapes from the Dollar Tree and then I covered them with cardstock and used my Scor-Pal to make the sides to create the house and then to create the corrugated roof.
I added a wooden fence and felt accents and then a string of lights inside to make it glow!

I really had a lot of fun with this, I'm actually thinking of making another and filming it for YouTube so you can see how I actually made it.

Halloween Skeleton Frame Wreath

Not papercrafting today but crafting none the less!
I love to decorate for the all the seasons and Holidays but haven't made a Halloween wreath before, only a Fall One (which I will share later).
I decided to do a little looking on the net and found THIS FABULOUS FRAME WREATH and just knew I needed to make one for myself.
Now being a crafter I already had a lot of things around to use, it was the black frame that started me looking to create something with it, but I needed the skeleton.

Project Recipe:
Frame - Already had
Skeleton - $9.98 at Walmart
Silver Pumpkin - 98 cents at Walmart
Witches Hat, Halloween Sign, Creepy Cloth and Tinsel - $1 each at Dollar Tree
Spiders - Michaels (50 cents)
Lights - $4.99 at Walmart
Ribbon - Clearance at Walmart last year $1
Total - About $22!

I wired the skeleton to the frame with florist wire
I loved the Witches hat and hot glued it to the skeleton, makes him/her creepy cute I think!

The sign was just $1 and I simply took of the ribbon hanger and used two nails to attach it to the frame.

The bow was the hardest part for me, I'm not good at tying/creating bows and even after watching a ton of You Tube videos I still couldn't get it perfect but with wired ribbon you can hide a lot of imperfections and so I was happy in the end.

I loved this silver glittery pumpkin and at 98 cents it was a bargain! I just hot glued it to the skeletons hand

I added a string of battery operated Christmas lights to brighten it a little, I like that the bulbs have little clips that attach easily to the ribbon

It "glows" at night!

I had a lot of fun making this and just wanted to share with you all!

Halloween House - Fall/Halloween Scor-Pal Tutorial week

Today is Day 1 of a week of Fall/Halloween tutorials at Scor-Pal
My tutorial is for a cute Halloween House, perfect for hiding treats in!

Project Recipe:
Cardstock and Patterned Paper - Unknown
Scoring Tool - Scor-Pal
Adhesive - Scor-Tape
Fence Punch - Martha Stewart
Scalloped Punch - Fiskars
Pumpkin Dies - Dayco

Take 2 pieces of cardstock 5" by 12" and score at 1" with the 5" side at the top fence and then at 1", 5" and 11" on the 12" side.

Burnish all scored lines and snip as in the photo to create flaps.

Add Scor-Tape to the flaps to form the base of the house.

Form 2 sides of the house using one piece of the cardstock and your Scor-Tool to create crisp corners

Repeat with the other piece of cardstock and attach together to form the 4 walls of the house. (don't worry about a base it will come later) Your house will measure 6" by 4"

Punch a 12" strip with your fence punch from a full piece of cardstock. After punching trim to a height of 2" on a trimmer. Then on your Scor-Pal score a line 1/4" from the bottom of your fence and burnish. These measurements will vary depending on what you use for your fence. Just remember that you need to leave room to be able to form a flap that will attach to the base.

Repeat with other strips until you have enough to go around the base of your house. Form corners as in the photo. I wanted my base to measure 6 1/2" by 5" and adjusted the punched pieces to fit (with their repeating design matching up) and trimmed to form a gate space (so the trick or treaters can visit the house :).

Attach the base to the fences with Scor-Tape

The house will fit to the base. You will attach with Scor-Tape later after decorating.

To make the roof start with a piece of cardstock 4 1/4" by 8" and score at 8" on the 8" side and burnish.

For the sides of the roof have 2 pieces of cardstock 5 1/2" by 4". At the center point on the 5 1/2" side (so 2 3/4") mark with a pen. Draw 2 diagonal guide lines from the that point to each bottom corner. Use those lines as a guide to line up on your Scor-Pal and score the diagonal lines and burnish.

Attach the roof sides at one side to the roof top as in the photo. Sorry it is hard to see, it is hard to edit it lighter with it being a black roof.

Trim off the overlap so that the sides match the level of the roof. It is so much easier to do it this way as the scored diagonal lines are easy rather than have to measure in on the sides before scoring and you are much less likely to make a mistake. Also trim the tiny piece that overlaps on the front too (I left it on the photo so you could see what I was referring to)

Attach the other side of the roof and use your Scor-Tool in the corners to complete the roof.

Now decorate the house as you desire.

The roof is easily removed to add treats if you would like or you could use it as a gift box.

I hand cut windows and a door and found this little round sticker that I thought looked a little like a wreath to fit on the door. You can decorate how you like.

I hope you enjoyed this and be sure to drop me a message if you have any questions.

Trick or Treat - The Last Halloween Card?

Well I can't believe we are at yet another Friday, where are the weeks going?
As it is Friday that means a card using an image I have won.
This one comes from a great win at Sentimental Sundays where I won images from Bugaboo
This was one of the super cute images I chose from my prize.
Now this may or may not be my last Halloween card for 2012, I must admit to having loved all the fabulous Halloween images and papers around this year, I've made way more this year than before and it will be hard to say goodbye to this Holiday.
We are throwing a Halloween party tomorrow night, the first one we have done, and I have gone all out with lots of fun things to eat, drink and play! Fingers crossed that it all goes down well.

I think I may have been a little glitter heavy but with the dark colors I didn't want my little pumpkin girl to be scared so I gave her plenty of sparkle!
I hope you liked this one, it was nice to make an easel card for a change instead of my usual single fold cards.
Be sure to pop back this weekend, there is a Pink Gem card tomorrow and a Christmas Card Challenges card on Sunday!

Double Double Toil and Trouble!

EDITED TO ADD: Made 1st Place at Crafts 4 Eternity THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Happy Friday!!
Do you have lots of things planned for your weekend?
It's Neighborhood Garage Sale day here tomorrow so tonight we will be pulling out stuff from the attic, closets, anywhere where we've stashed stuff we need to get rid of. Hopefully we can sell some of it to off set the unexpected bill we had this week when we needed a new garage door opener. It's nice to be able to afford to replace it but not nice to have to pay for it at all! LOL
We are also going to try and do the annual Pumpkin Patch visit if the weather cooperates (should do but you know how it changes on a whim)
But our weekend fun starts very soon as it is "Fun Run" at the elementary school this morning, the only fundraiser this year, and so we are rushing off to go and watch Carter run his laps and raise a little money!
It will be fun to see them all racing around the track in their matching t-shirts seeing who can do the most, hopefully no tears will be shed!LOL
Like last Friday I have a card today made with an image I won this week. I have made kind of a pledge to myself to use the images I win rather than stashing them away, we'll see how long that lasts!
This one came from a Top 3 spot at Milk Coffee and I got to choose my image and this one was so cute and a perfect fit for many of the challenges around right now.

Now the skin on this was one I've never done before, I used the E40's with a touch of E71 to create the sort of undead look to Miss Black Widow. All the while I was coloring her I kept hearing "Contrast, More Contrast" being cyberly whispered in my ear by the fabulous Colleen Schaan and I went back 3 times to add more shadow and I think I'm happy with the results now.
I hope you liked this one and that it gets you in the mood for a little Halloween creating.
