So many challenges, so little time!

Happy Sunday,
If you've been following me for even just a little while you'll have noticed that I like to play on the challenge blogs.
Some people think I take it a little too far at times, and sometimes I'll agree with them! LOL But it is so much fun finding the challenges (I have a book with close to 300 challenge blogs in it) and working out which ones work together. It also takes me out of my creative box at times, making me try things I wouldn't do otherwise. Surprisingly I don't play for the prizes although there have been a few that I see and say "oh I'd love to win that one", but if I do win a prize it is received lovingly and is a bonus.
I've made online friends through my challenge searching and playing and I want to Hi! say to all of them!
This week there have been so many great sketches that I just had to have a day with a few of my "just because" creations.

A New Tutorial at The Pixie Cottage and a New Card from me too :)

It's time for another fabulous tutorial from The Pixie Cottage team and this one was created by the very talented Peggy of Beautiful Greetings!
She's showing us all how to watercolor with Distress Inks and I for one will be getting out my paintbrushes this afternoon to give it a go!

Also on The Pixie Cottage news, Michelle has recived so many new stamps in the last couple of weeks and they are all so super cute! You've seen 2 of my cards using them already this week and here's the trifecta!

Cupcake Crafts want Friends/Friendship
Crafty Calendar want Love/Friendship
Rosie Dees had a Friendsip theme too
Cuttlebug Spot wanted to see the Double Embossing technique (they have a great video showing how to do this over there)
Lord Have Mercy had a sketch that worked great with the embossing technique
Sophisicats wanted Embossing
Incy Wincy want Touchy Feely!
Peachy Keen had a recipe. Must contain Green and Yellow, a 3D object/embellishment and a stamped image
Copics Colour Challenge had the combo of YG03 Yellow Green, Y17 Golden Yellow and C7 Cool Grey #7
Paper Garden wanted to say Farewell to Winter

Card Recipe

Image - Spring Friends at The Pixie Cottage
Paper - DCWV The Citrus Stack
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Paper Lace Punch - Martha Stewart
Sentiment - The Paper Studio for Hobby Lobby
Die Cuts - Nestabilites by Spellbinders
Medium - Copic Markers

Inside is more of the wonderful dp and a message mat.

Here is a close up showing that double embossing technique. You can see the video tutorial for this Here.
It's hard to show in the photo as the mat is white but I hope you can see both the Swiss Dots embossing and the edge embossing from the Nestability.
I nearly gave up on this technique as I couldn't get it right and then I spotted my mistake and it worked wonderfully!
Be sure to check out all the wonderful new designs that Michelle has in the store right now, perfect for your Spring crafting!
And also remember the latest challenge (a new sketch) is still going on over at The Pixie Cottage and we'd love to see your entry over there!

Challenge #10 at Cooking It Up!

Happy Wednesday!
It's time for another challenge over at my Cooking It Up With Katie card recipe blog.

This time the recipe is:
Home or Family theme
Punch something
Use a sticker

I used the following challenges:
For the banner:

Raise the Bar had an Older the Better theme and wanted old papers
Res Q wanted you to have an "Inventory Check Up" and use some things you've had for ages (I think the 7+ year old papers work)
Frosted Designs wanted Embossing
Just Us Girls had a Wildcard of making a Banner
Crafty Angels wanted Buttons
Jacksonbelle want Buttons, Bows or Brads
Little Red Wagon wanted Chipboard
Sweet Stampin wanted Scallops
Creatalicious wanted No Stamped or Digi images
Created By Hand wanted anything but a Square or Rectangle
Paper Minutes wanted Triangles

For the matching card:

Stamp Something had a theme of "Delightfully Delicious"
Polly Craft wanted "Things with Wings" and Tilda is an Angel so she definitely has wings.
Lord Have Mercy had a super simple sketch that worked perfectly for this set
Crafty Angels wanted Buttons
Jacksonbelle want Buttons, Bows or Brads
Sweet Stampin wanted Scallops
Creative Belli wanted Ribbons
Magnolia Lovers wanted Buttons or Bows or both

I really like using my paper crafts in my home and thought the idea of a "Home" banner would be a fun concept.

I used really old papers, they are Color by Design from 2001, but they went so well with the new Mary Engelbreit accents from Michaels $1 spot.
The chipboard letters were spray painted with Krylon, much quicker and even than painting by hand.
I used my trusty Threading Water punch by Fiskars and the border at the top is embossed too with the Swiss Dots folder.
The flowers are Prima and the brads in the center from Target.

On the card I used Baking Tilda and colored her with Copic's.

I carried on all the embellishments inside on to the message mat.

Here's a close up of Tilda and her Cookies!
I'd love to see your creations from this challenge over at Cooking It Up With Katie.

Happy Happy Birthday!!!!

Hello to Everybody! It’s very unusual for us to post on Saturday… But today is a very special day; today is Irina’s Birthday! You all know that Irina is not only a very talented crafter, but also a very wonderful person! Of course we couldn't’t miss her Day and decided to throw a little on-line party for her. We were keeping it a secret and prepared a surprise Birthday Blog Hop. So come along with us do the hop, hop to celebrate Irina’s Birthday.

Each of us created a card with Birthday wishes for our special Birthday Girl. So your first hop should have been at Kim’s blog.
If for some reason you didn't get to me through the hop then start there at the beginning so you don't miss a thing!

After me you need to hop along to Karin

Of course it wouldn't be me if I didn't use a few challenges along the way!
Colour Q had the combo of Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Tempting Turquoise and Chocolate Chip
Lord Have Mercy had a wonderful sketch

I used a selection of papers from The Paper Studio, Peppermint Forest and DCWV.
The cake is a chipboard accent from K&Co and the sentiment is from Joann.

If by some reason you loose track on your journey through the hopping spots, here is a list of all of us:

Cute Daisy May - Green and Gold Christmas

Happy Monday Everyone!
It's time for the final challenge of the year at Cute Daisy Mayand we are ending with a Green and Gold Christmas.
I've chosen a few challenges to help me with this one and I'd love to see what you create with the color combo too.

Pennys Challenge had the theme of "Christmas Stars", I used a star embossing folder
Little Red Wagon had a photo inspiration of some gorgeous Green and Gold ornaments (or baubles for my English friends back home!)
Creative Card Crew wanted Gold or Silver
Cute Card Thursday had the theme of "Sew Beady" and wanted beads on your project. I used metal beads that I colored with a Copic to turn them gold and the "Peace" is a poetry bead.
365 Cards Day 285 wanted you to use the word Peace on your card
Lord Have Mercy had a great sketch that I gave a quick turn to for it to work with my image
Our Creative Corner wanted a Holiday project
Craft Ann wanted Texture

I simply loved the innocence of this image of the little girl with her candle from Sheet 53.
I colored her with Copic's.
I matted her on American Crafts gold cardstock and the back panels are embossed with the Stars folder from Cuttlebug.
The dp is My Minds Eye.

The inside is more dp and a message mat.

I just wanted a close up of the image :)
I'm sure you've still time to make another Christmas card, chose Green and Gold, show us what you've made and you could be the winner!

Time for more Cooking It Up With Katie!

Happy Thursday!
It's time for a new challenge over at my challenge blog Cooking It Up With Katie

The recipe for this challenge is:
1. An image of something that's been cooked or can be cooked;
2. Use some buttons;
3. Add a little something inside. This could be a decorated message mat, a pocket for a gift card or anything else you come up with.

Of course even though it's my own challenge I still couldn't just "make a card" I had to find more challenges to go with it! LOL

Lord Have Mercy gave me the sketch
Crazy Amigo wanted Buttons and Knots
Cupcake Crafts wanted Buttons and Stitching
TCP Tuesday wanted to see Buttons too
Whimsy Stamps wanted you to Get Punchy
365 Cards Day 227 wanted to see things "In Motion" and I hope the steam from the pie counts here.
and both Crazy 4 Challenges and Play Along Monday wanted to see Thankful/Thank You on your project.

The papers are from the Crafty Stack by DCWV. I love the cardstock weight of these papers and the textured feel. The pie image is clip art from The Mama Bear Kitchen set from Digi Scrap Kits. I printed them out 3 times and cut and layered them and added some extra ink around the edges.
The border punch is Apron Lace and the "steam" from the pie is a punched out piece from a border punch I've had for years. The wooden buttons are tied with grey twine and the sentiment is from 7 Gypsies.

The inside is more dp and another image from the same clip art set. This time I printed the Mama Bear directly onto the mat and then added another cut out version popped up for dimension.

Doesn't the pie look yummy?

This challenge would be perfect for those of you who love Magnolia stamps and who've got the new Yummy In Your Tummy collection!
So I'd love to see your creations over at Cooking It Up With Katie
