Pile It On - Operation Write Home

This is a very special challenge at Pile It On this week. We are working alongside Operation Write Home to provide handmade cards for our troops overseas to send home to their loved ones. There are guidelines that you have to follow to make these cards so this week the team won't be showing their sparkle as glitter is a big No No but we still made some fabulous samples for you!
OWH accepts all types of cards but are especially looking for Birthday, Anniversary or Christmas cards at the present time so that is what we are asking you to make this week.

Challenges:

A Crafty Little Place - Sketch
Totally Papercrafts - Go Dotty
Stamp Something - Spots and Stripes
Ooh La La - Stripes
Timbro Scrapmania - Anything Goes
Fab N Funky - Anything Goes
Gingersnaps - Punches
Paper Pretties - Brads
Lili of The Valley - One for The Boys (with a Lili image)
Karners Challenge - Card for A Boy
Going Grey - Card for a Child
Incy Wincy - Celebrate

Creative Cottage - Celebrations
Paper Romance - Clean and Simple

Card Recipe:
Image - Lili of The Valley
Paper- DCWV from years ago!

Sentiment - 7 Gypsies
Border Punch - Martha Stewart

These two little guys look so happy to be sharing a quiet moment together.
We'd really like you to make a card or two for Operation Write Home too and if you send them to Dalis at Pile It On you'll get a little RAK for all your hard work.
All the details are on the challenge blog about where to send them.

Something Different from Me - A Halloween Chipboard Album

Happy Friday everyone!
In the dim and distant past before I started making cards I used to make mini albums and things to sell on eBay. It was a wonderful creative outlet and was nice as it brought in a little play money too.
When the economy took a downturn my sales fell too. I looked at other options and at that point handmade cards were still a popular item. That downturn in sales led me to try my hand at cards and I've never turned back! At first I sold those too but they too slumped but I was too hooked to stop (don't ask me how many I have in my closet). Well as it is coming up to the big Holiday shopping I thought maybe I could combine my new love of card making with my old love of mini albums and today I have the first result of that combination.
I hope you like it, it was a lot of fun to make and really got my mojo back on track ;)

Obviously I found a few challenges that it worked with too.

Sew Many Challenges - Halloween
Stampin For The Weekend - Shabby or Vintage
Gingersnaps - Punches
Paper Pretties - Brads
Daisy Doodles - Anything Goes (with a digi)
Bee Crafty - Anything Goes (with a digi)
The Shabby Tearoom - Tags
Paper Cutz - Tags
Tuesday Taggers - Books
Artful Inkables - Distressing
Stamptacular Sunday - Distress It
Totally Stampalicious - Paper Flowers

Book Recipe:
Images - Digital Delights
Paper - Midnight Spell by DCWV
Medium - Copic Markers
Chalk Ink - Dewdrops
Flowers - Prima
Embellishments - Martha Stewart, Spare Parts
Ribbons - Michaels
Border Punch - Martha Stewart
Base - Chipboard (cute to size)
Binding - Bind It All

Remember that you click on each photo for a much larger image.
This really was a whole lot of fun, so much so that as soon as I finished it I started on a Fall album and I'm hoping to be able to have that up for you to see very soon.
I hope you've enjoyed this and maybe it will give you an idea to try something a little different too.

Happy Sunday everyone,
It's the last day of February and time for a "Just Because" card.
A few weeks ago I won a challenge at Tellens Place and along with my prize pack of goodies I had my choice of 2 of their digital stamps!
Well I can't let a good image sit still for long so I printed it out and got to work on a card.

Obviously it wouldn't be a Katie Card without a list of challenges too!

Quixotic wanted One For The Boys
Pixie Dust want you to Think Birthday

I checked with my "soon to be a teen" son if this was too girly and he said "no, if boys can wear pink they can wear peach", oh the wisdom of youth! LOL
I'm so not a boy card maker but have recently been called on to create some more manly cards and you know what? I kinda like the challenge :)
I hope you've liked looking at him too and have a great rest of your Sunday.
Be sure to drop back tomorrow for 3, yes 3 posts, with lots of new creations.
